Thousands of people participated enthusiastically in the Eid reunion and workers’ conference organized by Hizbut Towheed in Meherpur. The event was held this Wednesday morning (April 29, 2026) in Gangni, Meherpur, arranged by the district unit of Hizbut Towheed.
The chief guest at the event was the top leader of Hizbut Towheed, Imam Hossain Mohammad Selim. In his keynote speech, he highlighted the current global situation, stating, “Across the world, the strong are oppressing the weak. Due to imperialist aggression, one Muslim-majority country after another is being destroyed. Millions of Muslims are being forced to live in inhumane conditions in refugee camps.”
Referring to the situation in Bangladesh, he said that the country is not an exception. “There are uprisings, elections, and successive changes in government. Yet, people are not experiencing the desired peace and security. Hype and rumors have reached epidemic levels. On one hand, there is unemployment; on the other, rising commodity prices have made people’s lives extremely difficult.”

He identified the root cause of this unrest as the governance system left behind by the British. He said that the political, judicial, and economic structures introduced by the British have completely failed. He emphasized that replacing this failed man-made system with the divinely guided system prescribed by Allah is now a necessity of the time.
He further stated that only the proper implementation of Islamic principles can ensure the protection of life and property and establish human rights.
The event was chaired by Zahid Mahmud, General Secretary of the Meherpur district unit of the organization. Special guests included Central General Secretary Md. Nizam Uddin, Joint General Secretary Rufaida Ponni, Khulna Divisional President Tanvir Ahmed, and Regional President Joseb Uddin, among others.
The program was hosted by Shamsuzzaman Milon. Thousands of leaders and activists from different upazilas of Meherpur district attended the event.
